Sjogren’s syndrome is an autoimmune condition that can cause dry mouth, dry eyes and other systemic symptoms. It is commonly associated with other autoimmune conditions. Diagnosis is by oral evaluation, blood tests, and a lip minor salivary gland biopsy.
Dr. Nita Chainani-Wu has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of Sjogren’s syndrome. Management involves a team approach with the patient’s ophthalmologist and other health care providers. Treatment of the symptoms and signs is by use of topical and systemic medications.
